About event

Four days of adventurous climbing beneath the dramatic peaks of the Stirling Range.

Spend the Easter long weekend exploring one of Western Australia’s most adventurous climbing destinations - the Stirling Range National Park.

This four-day climbing trip will be centred around Mt Trio, a striking peak on the northern side of the range that offers a variety of adventurous trad and multi-pitch routes in a spectacular alpine-style setting (by WA standards). The Stirling Range is known for its rugged terrain, remote feel, and rewarding climbs - making it an unforgettable experience for those comfortable climbing in more committing environments.

Depending on the weather and group interest, we may also explore other nearby climbing areas within the Stirling Range.

Camping in Nature’s Embrace

We’ll base ourselves at Mt Trio Bush Camp & Caravan Park, a relaxed and climber-friendly campground located right at the base of the mountain. Camping is pay on arrival, and if you expect to arrive late, it’s recommended to call the camp host in advance.

It does get pretty busy at the campsite over Easter, so make sure you are self-sufficient. We'll send a pin to the group chat once we pitch the tent. Pls be aware that reception might be patchy.

Get ready

If you’re planning to climb in the Stirlings, the new Stirling Range guidebook is highly recommended. Copies are available online via the CAWA shop and in several Perth climbing gyms.

Requirements

At CAWA, safety is our top priority. All participants must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Independent climbers are responsible for themselves.

  • All participants must sign a Deed of Release and Indemnity (if they haven't already), RSVP, and complete the participant's form below.

  • Inexperienced climbers must partner with an experienced climber. We might be able to pair you up on the day, but prior arrangements are advised.

  • A parent, guardian, or responsible/qualified adult must accompany climbers under 18 years old.

If you’re new to climbing, be sure to check out CAWA Trips for additional information and reach out to us via email. Stirling Range NP is not the best for climbers new to the outdoors unless supervised by an experienced climber.

Participants must be confident with trad climbing and multi-pitch systems if planning any trad routes, and comfortable with leading and cleaning sport routes if only sport climbing. The terrain here is more adventurous than most WA crags and requires solid judgement, fitness, and preparation. If you enjoy remote climbing, big views, and a sense of exploration, this trip is for you.
